general has filed suit because it continues political dance where have you democratic leaders here kind of flip-flopping on their take on having the federalization here. but, at the same time, we are seeing a lot of praise for falling crime rates. this was d.c.'s a.g. brian schwab said yesterday about this lawsuit no. american city should have the u.s. military particularly out-of-state military who have not accountable to the residents and untrained in local law enforcement policing and streets. d.c. today any other city tomorrow. filed this action to put an end to this illegal federal overreach attempt of d.c. to president's highly successful operations. take a look at those operations. we have got some new numbers here since august 7th. according to the white house, over 1800 arrests have been made. 60 known gang members have been arrested. including ms-13, tren de aragua members, five missing children have been recovered and 188

officers don't do what they did in d.c., that's control crime, clean up the city and make people feel safer. i'm going to make sure that the homeless encampments stay intact, a threat to your kids as they go to school. and i think this is really risky for him. so he is the same guy who said i need the national guard because i got to make sure chicago is safe city for the dnc. same thing with the governor of new york. i got to make sure new york doesn't get national guard but you needed them in the subway? >> ainsley: essentially saying i love the violence so much more than i love donald trump. and because i hate donald trump so much, we're going to push the violence in our community. we refuse to clean it up. >> lawrence: it's so dumb on two reasons. first of all, you got the national guard there. they're doing the checkpoints, that's how they are getting a lot of the guns off the streets because they are checking these vehicles, they are see hog is going from street to street. also because you got all the feds there protecting the national monuments and everything, you surge those resources into the community, so the national guard picked up

those to protect the monuments. it's just not smart. take the win. >> brian: david axelrod from chicago, famously, he weighs in and just says listen, pritzker, this is not a good modify, stop thinking 2028. >> i would be careful about playing '28 politics on this issue because the right answer is we'll take all the help we can get as long as it's appropriate help. as long as it's stuff that will really help. i mean national guardsmen aren't even trained to do that work. they are not authorized to do that work. so, you know, send us the resources that we need. we want to work with you. if there are criminal -- if there are people doing violent crimes here who are illegal immigrants, we want them out of our city. we will work with you on that. >> brian: why the way help in 2028 say i was a governor. if you want to be a legitimate candidate work with the republican president when it would help my city and state. >> ainsley: every republican has been saying, every conservative,

even the moderates in d.c. if you ask them we went to the streets of chicago and they said we want the national guard, we need this. he is saying take all the help you can get. if you are seeing crime go down, zero homicides, what was it for like almost two weeks in a row in d.c. the numbers dropped dramatically, because it's working. policing works. >> lawrence: they also have to stop saying that the national guard is not trained for this. they are trained for this. secretary of defense used to do this same job. it was good enough for the democrats in chicago when they had the national guard there to handle the crowd, to handle control of the streets and the yearps for the national convention. don't tell us this talking point that they're not trained to do it. >> ainsley: isn't it more than just about the president. we saw that video in chicago at the gas station where everyone was walking into the gas station or parking lot while people were filling up these tanks with these big guns. if you have national guard out on the street those guys will pick the next gas station. they're not going to invade that one. it's more about presence.

>> brian: well, for those people who think that the president is not going to do it. like i watched that clown, that d.a. that philadelphia d.a. krasner, he actually made chicken noises to say the president's chickening out. the president chickening out of sending security forces into chicago which is the murder capital of the country. i can't get my head around it. meanwhile, the pentagon, if you think the president is backing off, the pentagon has approved the use of the chicago navy base for ice and possible military operations. so the president does want to make sure he doesn't deploy them and get them pulled back because of what happened with that san francisco ruling. but i just think that he is under pretty steady ground, so let's just see what the appeal looks like out in california before he puts them in chicago. in the meantime, go to new orleans. the governor wants you there governor landrieu wants you. even though the scandal-ridden mayor of new orleans doesn't, who cares? >> ainsley: let's go to portland, oregon. a perfect example of what is happening out there when you have these democratic leaders who refuse to let ice come in.
4:09 am
they are not working with ice at all. there have been protesters at this ice facility in portland, oregon, they rule rolled in a guillotine in front of the ice facility saying basically we want to cut your heads off. they are yelling: you are sad excuses for human beings. you guys are violent, cowardly pigs, demonstrators burned flags, they are clashing with law enforcement. this has been going on for months now. a lot of this since labor day. >> lawrence: look at them right here. this is the protesters throughout lighting the american flag on fire. this is the residents. [explosions] [bleep] [sirsirens. [turn that down! it's midnight. we, the people, need sleep! [chanting] >> brian: think about this. there is not a cop in sight. this is a chaotic city.
4:10 am
they say if you talk about real estate prices going down. talk about business fleeing. ladies and gentlemen, i give you, portland, oregon. that's the tyranny that the american people won't tolerate anymore. the people of portland are the few that are left. protesters that go there and do it. ice will do their job the best they can. how do you guillotine that's like walking around with a machete. >> steve: that's true. police haven't conducted an arrest in months. afraid of the pushback that's going to happen. politicians aren't doing anything as well. remember, this is the same city that has had lawlessness during the summer of love. >> ainsley: weren't they telling the police officers to stand down that we are a sanctuary city? >> brian: president sent federal officers in, he got ridiculed for that i imagine this won't be going on too much longer. the people of portland, have you to be embarrassed by the way you are being portrayed. meanwhile talk about what is happenings with ai. i think it's great that the

the robots are here. our future is no longer science fiction. as leaders and parents, we must manage ai's growth responsibly. during this primitive stage, it is our duty to treat ai as we would our own children, empowering, but watchful guidance. >> lawrence: i think that is great that the first lady is leading this conversation but one thing i appreciate about this administration, they don't demonize, you know, the business community. they bring them in. if they have an issue, they talk about it openly so we can see about it. and they want to be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem. so i think this is going to be great for the country. >> brian: i think there is going to be 10 meetings. they are going to have to together. zuckerberg, oracle, the head of google you have everybody there. elon musk, by the way, heard he was invited.

peace in those conversations, talks returning to a geopolitical relationship with the united states for mutual benefit, particularly in terms of our economies. and going forward. i think he talks all of that. but, and he promises things that are going to take place like a bilateral meeting followed by a trilateral meeting. bilateral with zelenskyy and putin. but he doesn't follow through on it. he makes promises, but he doesn't keep them. and i think we're at a point now where we have got to recognize that we have got push him in the direction of the peace process. he's not going to voluntarily do it. he is not going to go to a cease-fire and he doesn't look like he is willing to make any major compromises that would make sense in terms of establishing a permanent peace agreement. and we're going to likely have to change his behavior and force him into it. having the europeans stop buy all of the stuff in that direction. slapping sanctions on from the united states on anybody that's doing that not just india but

department of defense. do you like this move? >> well, first, i'm less concerned about the name. i'm more concerned about what the defense or the war department stands for. and that is we have to be prepared to fight and win our nation's wars. that is job one. and the truth is, as we stand here today, given the atrophy that took place on the 9/11 wars, the kneecapping of the defense budgets under biden and under obama excuse me and flat defense budgets under biden. we have got a lot of work to get to that status that we can -- that he would absolutely prepared to win wars against our adversaries particularly dealing with china and the grouping of these nations together. why did we change from war department to the defense department? you got to go back to the feelings that existed at post world war ii. close toe 100 million people killed as a result of the adversary nations.
4:35 am
everybody at the time had war ministries, war offices, or war departments after world war ii because people wanted peace and stability and deter war from happening they moved to defense departments or ministries of defense. there is not a single prominent nation today that has a war department. why? because they wanted to move away from the aggressive connotation of war department had and the imperial nature of it. the the adversaries war departments japan and germany were afrikaan fest. we're not afrikaan quest. that was the reason the congress made to the the change. reflecting that thought process. what i'm concerned about be prepared to fight and win our nation's wars and we have got to get a lot of work to get us back to that status. >> brian: gotcha. general jack keane, have a fantastic weekend. speaking of the weekend coming up on one nation amongst my roster of guest douglas murray trying to make sense of all of this craziness.
